Lola
About
DOB: Mar 26, 2009Breed: Belgian Malinois
OK, so she's not a Malinois 🙂 Lola is a kitten we found in our driveway. After catching her (she was completely feral) she slowly started to settle in. Once she got comfortable enough to walk around and not just hide in a corner and hiss at us (took a few days) we realized there was something wrong with her back leg. Turned out her leg was broken at the knee, the end of the bone had broken off then reattached itself along the side of the bone. She had surgery to rebreak the bone, put it back in place, and insert 2 screws. Based on the amount of growth that took place in the following weeks it looks like the growth plates in the bone weren't damaged or at least not to badly, and the injured leg is growing at the same rate as the other leg. She does tend to toe out a little on that side now but otherwise the leg is fully functional and doesn't appear to be causing her any pain.
As Lola continued to grow it became obvious that there was some growth plate damage. She's now fully grown, and her injured leg is a little shorter then the other leg, but she compensates by not bending it quite as much when she walks. She can still run, jump, etc although she's not quite as athletic as Lala, she gets around just fine and has no problem keeping up with her younger "sister" or the dogs.
